Fires in Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 & the resulting recall have been widely publicised.
But it gets worse:
● a fire has occurred in a replacement phone – ostensibly fixed
● previous fires have occurred exclusively in phones which were charging – which implied that a Note 7 could be rendered safe by turning it off
● in this most recent case, the phone had been powered down shortly before it began smoking
