Dual-carbon battery claims longer service life, faster charging, more useable capacity & improved safety over Li-ion

Both electrodes in a dual-carbon battery are — carbon. During charging, a dual carbon battery doesn't heat up. Lithium ion batteries heat up during charging, limiting the charge rate. With no substantial increase in temperature, dual-carbon batteries can be charged 20 times faster.

Heat produced by an EV battery-pack requires a cooling system. Cool-running dual-carbon battery-pack holds the promise of little or no requirement for thermal management, with resultant reduced cost, complexity & size.

Thermal stability also improves safety & service life.

How far the battery in existing EVs can be discharged is limited to extend service life. E.g. when a Volt shows the battery as fully discharged, it still has 20% of its capacity remaining.

Dual-carbon batteries are claimed to be able to be fully discharged without compromising service life.

Similarly, the top level of charge in an EV is limited to extend service life. Dual-carbon batteries promise to eliminate this limitation too.

In short, all of the above adds up to increased useable capacity with longer service life & improved safety.

Other claims:
● no rare earths
● no heavy metals
● fully recycleable
● can be manufactured using existing battery production equipment
