Google fights fake news with “Fact Check” tag

“The Internet is the repository of the greatest library of useful & valuable information the world has ever seen – interspersed with the greatest collection of misinformation, biased reporting, nonsense, myth, rumour, half truths, error, misrepresentation & outright lies the world has ever seen.”1

Interspersion of, “... misrepresentation & outright lies”, has never been more of a problem than during the recent US presidential election. No sign of any improvement since.

Perhaps with this in mind, Google has enabled a Fact Check tag in Google News & Search results. “This label identifies articles that include information fact checked by news publishers & fact-checking organizations.”2
