Crippling lithium-ion battery flaw revealed

First step in finding a solution is understanding the problem. Recently, it has been discovered that at least a part of the reason why lithium ion (LiIon) batteries lose capacity over time, is because lithium metal accumulates in copper components. This makes fewer lithium ions available for holding charge & so charge capacity is lost over time.

Now that the problem is understood, hopefully a solution can be found, increasing the useful life of LiIon batteries.
